Uhm, THESE

31 Jan

colors run.

The truth is, there’s LOTS of tough talk, followed by cowardice. Haven’t we had enough of the the last 8 years? This is just another sham.

I think it’s

31 Jan

a very good question. See here, too.

The answer? Buy ammo. Lots of ammo. If they don’t indict Hillary, you may well see a revolt. I really hope that doesn’t happen. Really. But she is very obviously guilty and there will be people who will be quite unhappy if she goes scot free.

This is NOT crazy talk. We have seen several groups giving armed resistance, most recently in Oregon. Yeah, we may quite appropriately see them as “crazies,” but rebellion is creeping into the mainstream. Waco wasn’t that long ago. Or Ruby Ridge. Or Oregon.

Things are turning. The country is NOT the same as it was for your parents and grand-parents, and you need to recognize that YOU will be faced with different challenges. We are just starting to see a societal coming apart at the seams. I really hope that such a thing does not happen in MY days, but so think all who are faced with such challenges (to paraphrase LOTR).

Frodo: I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.
Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

But, as has always been the case to a large or small extent, there is a separation happening. The gulf is now widening, and you are going to have to jump to one side or the other. YOU are going to have to decide where safety is. The days of being able to mindlessly inhabit the “mushy middle” are coming to a close. You are going to have to choose whom you will serve and what you believe in.

We all need to stand in safe places. Choose ye this day…

Obama has made this MUCH worse. He has been amazingly polarizing. I think having a decent GOP President will help calm the waters a bit, and may buy us a few decades. I strongly suspect that there will be a GOP President next time. But Obama has already set lawless things in motion, and now it just takes one tyrant (from either side) to turn over the apple cart. Unless real constraints are put in place. And we are seeing just that with Trump.

Angry people often make very bad decisions (see: The Weimar Republic), and people are indeed angry. I think that Trump will eventually lose, but he sets the example for other demagogues. We will almost for sure dodge the bullet this time. We won’t always be so fortunate.

So here we have stuff on Hillary’s

server that is too secret to release even in redacted form! Wow.

Sanders just won the nomination. It’s a very bitter pill for “slow” Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren. They chose… poorly. And Hillary probably should get used to wearing orange. If there’s any justice in the world, she will be wearing it a lot.

I REALLY like to

hear this. We need to understand that small businesses are being choked out. If you have never run your own business and lived off that business, you don’t really understand. And again, this isn’t intellectual or abstract knowledge, it is practical knowledge. You think you understand, but you really don’t.

So, if you don’t really “get” why one would do this, you have never run your own business. Of course you do this! DUH!

And I do think it speaks to the first stirrings of “Irish Democracy.” It may not be outright refusal, but it is certainly getting around the onerous regulations as much as possible. Smiling covert resistance is not all that far behind. No wonder small business owners are far more conservative than those who have only been “worker bees” their whole lives! Don’t get me wrong–we need “worker bees.” But being the owner/proprietor is a totally different thing.

That speaks to a different, but related, issue. More and more people are becoming 1099 contractors, and fewer and fewer are formal employees. The day will come when only “worker bees” will be employees at all! It is far easier for a business to manage 1099 contractors than employees. But if more and more people become 1099 contractors, more and more will become conservative (being responsible for all your taxes–no “dark magic” of withholding–will certainly do that).

Interesting.

I wonder what the sample is

Pre-Iowa Caucus Poll

Jeb Bush
0%

Ben Carson
0%

Chris Christie
1%

Ted Cruz
44%

Carly Fiorina
4%

Mike Huckabee
0%

John Kasich
0%

Rand Paul
3%

Marco Rubio
43%

Rick Santorum
0%

Donald Trump
3%

Who is your second choice for GOP Nominee?
Jeb Bush
0%

Ben Carson
2%

Chris Christie
6%

Ted Cruz
32%

Carly Fiorina
20%

Mike Huckabee
1%

John Kasich
0%

Rand Paul
3%

Marco Rubio
29%

Rick Santorum
1%

Donald Trump
5%

I’m not at all sure what that means, and T-Rump is certainly far further down than other polls would suggest. This seems like an outlier to me. I have a hard time believing it. At all.
One thing that would not surprise me at all is Trump having very low 2nd choice numbers. For those who are not died-in-the-wool Trumpkins, he would be way down the list (think Kasich or Jeb Bush) as a second choice. Those who want a different person first would very rarely want him second. So he’s either first or nothing. He is fundamentally different than the others (like, he’s not a Republican, let alone a Conservative). In other words, his support is a mile wide but only and inch deep. I think that is indeed likely, given his celebrity and his new-found GOP-ness.

It’s not merely that Trump was/is immoral,

28 Jan

it’s that, like he does with everything else, he brags about it. I can almost smell the high school locker room…

This is so juvenile as to be lame as well as shocking, coming from a (age-wise) full grown man. I’m sorry, I don’t pray that way. I have grown up, and am passed you now.

If it were me,

28 Jan

I’d just ignore it. I mean, if it is concealed, how on earth could he even know? It is a totally empty gesture. Ignore it–his is a totally untenable position. I mean, what is he going to do? That would prompt me to carry in his class. In fact, maybe open carry would be a great challenge–he will lose. Time to put him in his place.
