Let me explain

once again: The wording of the Second Amendment is neither archaic nor obtuse.

The Founders knew that a standing army was VERY often used by tyrants to destroy the liberty of free people. THAT was exactly what they had just experienced!

Yet this new country needed a standing army to protect against other countries. So a standing army was both a potentially dangerous threat against freedom and quite necessary to the existence of a country at all.

THEREFOR, because a standing army was necessary for a free state to even exist–to protect the country from being swallowed up by others–the army’s existence would be offset (checks and balances, remember?) by an armed populace. So BECAUSE we need an army, the right of regular people to keep AND bear arms “shall not be infringed.”

So here’s the entire text: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Leftists and gun control nuts want to obfuscate things so as to make it easier to infringe on this Constitutional right and thus become despots. But don’t be confused by their fancy talk–it is VERY clear and not at all hard to understand!
