Cannon granted former President Trump’s motion to dismiss the indictment against him, citing the unlawful appointment and funding of Special Counsel Jack Smith. The judge ruled that Smith’s appointment violated the Appointments Clause of the U.S. Constitution, leading to the dismissal of the superseding indictment. Additionally, the court found that Smith’s use of a permanent, indefinite appropriation violated the Appropriations Clause, though it did not address the remedy for this violation.
Smith’s appointment was unlawful. Wow.
This is a BIG deal! Coming on the heels of the failed Trump assassination attempt and crappy Secret Service work, the electoral boost for Trump is HUGE!
UPDATE: So three important things have recently happened:
- Trump not only beat Biden like the proverbial rented mule in the debate, but Biden was totally befuddled and flailing. His mental acuity is rightly in question.
- There was a very serious attempt on Trump’s life–and Democrats have this long history of inciting violence against him. It is absolutely disgusting.
- The Jack Smith case against Trump is dismissed. It was grossly heavy-handed and unjust on its face.
So, what are the electoral consequences of the HUGE events?
