People (even very smart ones) have followed a lie. And the lie is persuasive–make no mistake about THAT. And here is the false dichotomy:
One world government (with unlimited control, as such a government would require) or no world at all, through nuclear weapons. Safety or freedom. Scylla or Charybdis. Anti-Christ or Armageddon. Go ahead, make your choice…
Indeed, there is simply nothing more dangerous than an appeal to safety! In fact, I believe that that is the “clincher” argument. A degradation of moral agency and freedom always appears as an argument for peace and safety! YOU need to be wary when you hear that argument.
Of course, I think there is a third way. Then again, I’m Christian and think that there is indeed a solution that both provides safety (though not freedom from toil, sickness, and pain) and preserves moral agency…
