cutting Government sounds really good to most people. But the problem is that a lot of people need those government checks to keep functioning. They don’t want to see that stop. So there ends up being massive resistance to any budgetary restriction.
It’s like taxes. No one wants to pay taxes, but everyone wants the largess that comes from the government. Which is, of course, fueled by taxes.
So is there a way out of this “doom loop?” If so, just what is it? Is there enough “fat” to trim? Remember, ANY cut gores somebody’s ox! And you can bet they will squeal!
