is your friend. The problem comes in basic, fundamental differences between the Left and the Right.
The Left is fundamentally iconoclastic. They think that they know better than anyone in history, and they have nothing to learn from previous generations. So the issue is that they need to destroy all that has been built by past generations and create something totally new.
Hidden in that is an assumption and I and smarter and know better than anyone who has come before. What is new (or thought to be new) is intrinsically better. Case closed.
On the other hand, Conservatives leans towards an historical empiricism. In other words, we look back at what has been shown to have worked in the past, and build upon it. It is not worshipping the past, it is “tweaking” what has been empirically shown to work to meet our current needs.
It’s a big and really fundamental difference between the two approaches. And a Lefty approach is very much pride- and ego-driven. For Lefties, there is very little humility in thinking that perhaps they can learn from previous generations.
