And I think that Trump even publicly considering any kind of amnesty or softening his illegal alien stance would be a HUGE mistake. It would cut the knees out from under his supporters.
And it’s NOT happening.
Even if he did, the Democrat faithful would be no less likely to hate him and try to stymie him, but his base would be disgusted and demoralized. He would certainly get no more support from the Left than he is now, and he would lose the support of many regular Americans.
This putting amnesty in place would be a very bad move. And it would lead to the disgust and feeling betrayed of most normal people. There is just nothing good that would come out of it for Republicans.
This is just a ruse by Democrats, intended to depress and inactivare Conservatives. Don’t be fooled.
Now, I agree that a work permit situation where there is no birthright citizenship might work in some ways. But even that is a bit sketchy.
And I think birthright citizenship really is the “Holy Grail” here. I think that without that the illegal immigration problem is about 90% solved.
