at all to publicly fire someone and make it effective… in 10 months. THAT is amazingly stupid. Usually, a person is fired and then immediately walked out the door by a security guard, never to return. And there is a reason for that. Because a fired employee is likely to do any damage he or she can on the way out.
They also usually have little to no incentive to do things well. After all, they have been fired, so who cares? It’s not like they can be un-fired. So why not take that cool office chair home with you? Why not take as many customers as you can with you? Or at least you can get them so that they are very angry.
CBS was amazingly stupid for not following that rule. They told Stephen Colbert that they would fire him in 10 months. And now what is there to stop Colbert from saying some really nasty things about CBS? Let me answer that for you–NOTHING! And if you think his Lefty audience will stay after he is gone, you almost for sure have another thing coming.
I wonder how much damage Colbert can do before he leaves? Well, we’re about to find out. And it’s not just him. Think of all the support people, most of whom will be fired with him and who are angry at the very least. And think how much company property they will take in the next 10 months! My bet is that there will not be a mug, a plate, or a piece of silverware left in the break room in a week.
If I were a betting man, I would bet that the head honchos will realize that the firing will have to take place much sooner than 10 months.
