major low in terms of polling.
Aaron Zitner reports on a new Wall Street Journal poll that shows Democrats getting their lowest ratings from voters in 35 years.
…The survey finds that 63% of voters hold an unfavorable view of the Democratic Party—the highest share in Journal polls dating to 1990 and 30 points higher than the 33% who hold a favorable view. [emphasis in original]
Democrats leaned on Trump hatred as a substitute for substantive policy for so long, that their ability to argue and persuade has become merely a vestigial tail.
And now they really have nothing else. I mean, infanticide, sexual licentiousness, piss-poor foreign policy, payola, horrible domestic policy, avoidance of substantive discussion and persuasion, and overall philosophical kookiness are really not all that much of a winning team of ideas. Whoda thunk?
But this is very clearly the fruit of their avoidant strategy. They just don’t have the skills to do it anymore. And people are noticing.
Maybe they won’t really go away. Out of the asp’s hole comes a cockatrice and, and all that. But I think adjustment is inevitable and you will see some significant changes. I don’t know how they can survive otherwise. Maybe they’re not at “rock bottom” now, but you can certainly see it from here!
It’s not over. Not by a long shot. The Democrats, like Lazarus, may rise from the dead. They are the monster in cheesy horror flick who always comes back just when you think it’s dead. Sure, they have become a mere simulacrum* of a political party, but that might well be enough, at least for the short-term. They certainly hope so.
*simulacrum:
—A likeness; a semblance; a mock appearance; a sham; — now usually in a derogatory sense.
