Now THAT is

just dang nice!

The Texas Senate on Aug. 23 passed a bill that will redraw Texas’s congressional maps and increase Republicans’ hold on the state’s U.S. House delegation by as many as five seats.

I know Democrat governors have threatened to draw their own state line so as to favor Democrats. But that is an empty threat. Democrat governors have already drawn the lines in such way as to totally disenfranchise any Republican voters, so it’s not like they can go any further.

Besides, if you look at Massachusetts, they already have 100% Democrat representation. Now the truth is that they also have about 40% of the population who are Conservative, but those voices are not at all heard. The lines are drawn so as to deny all representation to Conservatives. In other words, there’s nothing more Massachusetts can do. They can’t squeeze out anymore Republican representatives, because there are none!

California is almost in the same boat, and their law states that they cannot do a reapportionment until the first of the decade. So Newsom’s threat to reapportion things is a totally empty one. Besides, a few other “red” states joining in (and there are several who are considering it) would totally destroy anything that California can do, even if it were not legally restricted.

This pretty much put a nail in the coffin of Lefty desires to flip the House. It is unlikely to happen, with Texas getting five more Republican seats and simultaneously displacing some number of Democrat seats.

Oh, it certainly might happen. And the historical record shows that it is typically the case that the party who holds the White House loses seats in the House during midterms.

But it is not at all clear that it will happen this time. I certainly hope not. Democrats in the House are freakin’ nuts and say outright that they will impeach Donald Trump for nothing yet again if they regain a majority. The fact that there is no legal grounds for doing so makes no difference whatsoever to them. What wackos!
