relevance of the Eurotrash leaders. I think Eastern Europe has got its crap together, and Meloni in Italy is a gleaming bright spot. And it wouldn’t be hard for the leaders of the other western European countries to stand out. I mean, at night a candle’s brighter than the sun… (thanks, Sting!)
But on the whole, western Europe is total malicious loony bin. And really, I want nothing to do with them. Europe has never been a major destination for me (though when I was in the military I wanted to be stationed in Rota, Spain–but never was), but now it would be a pure punishment to go visit.
American leftists have long had a fetish for the worst of the worst in Europe. During the Cold War, they were actually fans of all things Soviet. I think being exposed to that as a young kid and teenager had a lot to do with the fact that I never had a youthful wandering liberal phase. We had relatives in Poland whom my grandparents would occasionally visit, and they told me the truth of what was going on behind the Iron Curtain.
It’s a real plus to learn at such a young age that liberals are full of it.
