I’m just tired of the

mentally unwell TDS wackos, And yet they walk among us. And unfortunately, they vote.

It’s both stunning and depressing that America’s oldest, continuously-running political party could undergo a wholesale personality change in just a decade because its entire focus was the hatred of one man, but here we are. There’s an oft-repeated line here on the right that says if President Trump cured cancer, the Democrats would suddenly be pro-cancer. It’s the kind of absurdist illustration that I’ve enjoyed using throughout my career but find almost impossible to apply to the Democrats anymore. They’re just that far gone.

I remember in the early 90’s voting for a Democrat congressman. I thought he was a good guy, and the Republican he was running against was simply not. At least, I didn’t agree with that guy very much at all and did not have a very high opinion of him.

But the unfortunate thing is that now that kind of stuff never happens. For example, a close family friend of mine ran for governor of my state on the Democrat ticket. I had grown up with that guy, and had gone deer hunting with him. I still have a debt of gratitude to him for the way he treated me in high school. He was very popular, and I was a nobody. And yet, he often stopped and talked to me and treated me well. My father saw him as another son.

And yet, I voted against him. Why? I certainly had no love for his opponent. I voted against him because there is no way that I would give Democrats as a whole more power.

So here we are. It is not a real comfortable place. But it is where we are.
