I have with Swalwell is this: What took them so long? Why did Democrats (and RINOs) cover for him for so long? And why are they kicking him to the curb now?
I think we all know the answer to the last question. CA has a weird “jungle primary” meant to shut ALL Republicans out of the race. They run the top two regardless of party. And usually that means two hard Lefties.
But right now there are two pretty strong Republican candidates, while the Democrat vote is split between nearly a dozen candidates. So <gasp!> one (or even two Republicans–horrors!) could rise to the top with the Democrat vote split so thin.
So the obvious move was to get rid of Swalwell in order to block all Republicans out. And Swalwell was easy pick’ns. So it’s under the bus for him!
But they knew very well what he was doing. They ALL knew! It’s not that they care one bit that he is a sexual predator–for them it is the specter of losing that they cannot tolerate!
Few politicians in my lifetime have oozed more sleaze than Eric Swalwell, so none of this is surprising. His fall from grace comes with extra helpings of schadenfreude because Swalwell is also a persistent, combative, and smug presence on social media.
… As I have written on many occasions, the Democrats always have someone worse waiting in the wings. In this case, someone much, much worse. My Twitchy colleague Warren Squire writes that former Vice President Kamala Harris may be jumping into the governor’s race in California now that Swalwell is out.
