A holiday that is near and dear to my heart. And it is something we ALL should celebrate.
Did I mention that my birthday is today?…
Funny story: When I was at the MEPS station filling out my Navy paperwork, some enlisted 1st Class jabbed her finger at my application and tersely said, “Is that your real birthday?”
When I said it was, she grabbed my paperwork in a huff and looked at it. She immediately apologized and said, “Oh, you are the officer candidate! (I was entering as an O-3 because I had a Ph.D). Some people just put a familiar date on the application. Sorry!”
It was at that point that I thought to myself, “What on earth have I gotten myself into?”
