looking up. BUT, let’s not get cocky! Democrats cheat like a buggers, and you can bet that they will this time. There is SO much on the line for them. A big defeat for them right now is a long-term threat to them.
Democrats’ long-term reliance on shenanigans like some species of voter fraud is at very real risk. Should the SAVE act or something like it pass, they are absolutely cooked! Which is why the Senate RINOs have scuttled it–I mean, what is their “reasoning?”
Well, they say that passing it would require them nuking the filibuster, and they won’t do that. Of course, Democrats will as soon as they can. They already have for most nominations…
But yeah, the hangup is that Republicans would have to get rid of the filibuster, at least temporarily. THAT is the issue. They have the majority of votes, but they don’t have the super-majority that would be required to overcome the “wimpy” filibuster.
And Thune won’t require a “talking filibuster.” THAT is aggravating! Because there is a very good chance that a talking filibuster would eventually lead to passage. The wimpy current filibuster needs to go–you know, the one where you just say that you would actually filibuster. Disgraceful! If you want to filibuster, get your comfy shoes and some adult diapers!
