I think that for virtually ALL the “old-school Democrats,” the “new” Democrat party has just gotten too extreme to tolerate anymore. So, in that case, you face the conundrum: Will you turn totally and side with Republicans, or will you seek solace in the “mushy middle” of the Independent party?
