is now oozing into big state races.
Over the last 200 years or so, it was expected that if you wanted to represent some political party, you were willing and able to stand up and state your case. A politician had to logically convince voters. That’s how all this works. Or worked, anyway.
But starting slowly about 20 years ago, Lefty politicians started to avoid engaging in debate altogether. Their minions quickly followed suit. At that point, it only became fashionable for a politician to just make snarky comments criticizing the other side, not providing any information at all about their actual political foundations or intentions.
But it tended to be restricted to more local and interpersonal situations, not statewide or nationwide events. But all that has changed. We are suddenly seeing national candidates refusing to explain themselves to the voters. At all.
That is certainly not an accident. The Left tends to have a significant “softness” in their policy ideas. These ideas are quite vulnerable to someone opposing them. They just can’t really stand on their own. Therefore, Leftists, starting with regular people, have begun to refuse to debate ideas altogether.
Tradition as required debates for the most senior political officers. So far, at least. But even there, there are rumblings of candidates who refuse to debate at all. In fact, I thought that Joe Biden would refuse. And now here in Ohio, we are seeing a candidate who absolutely refuses to explain herself.
Democrats have become the party of running away…
