I think many of these doomers are not actually Republican at all, but are just Democrats working an “Operation Demoralize” against actual Republicans.
Some are just chronic Eeyore types and someone spit in their corn flakes when they were nine and they just never got over it. In clinical psychology we used to call them, “Depressive Personality Disorder,” and it is characterological, not acute–Axis II, not Axis I (though we don’t usually use the Axis system anymore).
