My prediction is that it will take a few big money judgments against schools (my my, hasn’t Oberlin had enough?–I guess not!) for colleges to get themselves in line. But then the liability costs will just be too high to keep violating the law.
Maybe a few criminal prosecutions would do the trick…
Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court effectively ended affirmative action with a series of decisions out of Harvard and the University of North Carolina (UNC). To say that the left is not pleased would be putting it politely. In case any college or university gets the idea to not comply, though, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) is putting them on notice with a letter he sent on Thursday to the presidents of elite schools, including those in Vance’s state of Ohio. Not only did Vance write to “express concern,” he also called on those presidents to preserve documents after they expressed “openly defiant and potentially unlawful reaction” to the Harvard decision.
Anti-discrimination is not just a good idea, it is the law! Maybe YOU are a racist at heart, but it is illegal. So knock it off!

I mean, the Left has often attacked Justice Thomas, most often scurrilously and unfairly. It has been meant to damage his reputation.

So the question I
have about Affirmative Action is this: How long?
In 2003, Justice Sandra Day O’Connor wrote in a court opinion:
We expect that 25 years from now, the use of racial preferences will no longer be necessary to further the interest approved today.
So she was saying that yes, Affirmative Action is unconstitutional, but that it would stop in 25 years.
Huh?
OK, she just pulled that number out of her butt, Fine, But with what Constitutional right is it logically acceptable to say, “OK, we can violate it, but only for the next 25 years?”
And what cultural effect would it have on the Black community if it went away? Would there be more emphasis on academic achievement?
