Here’s my prediction: Chuck Schumer is not long for this political world. At the very least he will not be able to hang on as Senate Minority Leader, but I also think there is a better-than-even chance that he won’t even be re-elected. I think AOC takes his office. Schumer is going down with this ship.

A disastrous shutdown for Democrats got worse Sunday when Senate Democrats folded on government funding while receiving nothing of substance in return.
There were some fig leaves for Schumer, but really not much. Almost nothing that he wouldn’t have had without a shutdown, and much that he lost because of the shutdown.
The agreement includes back pay for federal employees and guarantees that the 4,000-plus federal employees laid off during the shutdown will be rehired, as well as a blanket prohibition on future reductions in force through January 30. Those jobs are a drop in the bucket compared to the 250,000 or so the Trump administration eliminated before the shutdown.
But Democrats really got nothing, and it is pretty dang obvious. Which is why the hard-Left base is incandescently angry.
Most significantly, the agreement does not guarantee an extension of Covid-era enhanced Obamacare premium subsidies, with Democrats only receiving assurances of a vote on a bill of their choice.
“As I have said for weeks to my Democrat friends, I will schedule a vote on their proposal, and I have committed to having that vote no later than the second week in December,” Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) said on the Senate floor before the vote.
Even if such a bill were to pass the Senate, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has not committed to bringing it to the floor of the House.
Socialist is getting less positive, enthusiastic response these days.
And here we see a major weakness in Democrat strategy: They have disdained and avoided rational debate for so long that their persuasive skills have atrophied into nothing but a vestigial tail–their head is for decoration, not use.
THIS is what happens when you snuggle down exclusively into the fetid Lefty fever swamps. These people have preached only to the Lefty converted for so long that they have almost no persuasive skills. Debating a point with someone who disagrees with you has HUGE benefits! Schumer Shutdown™ just did not work out well at all for Democrats. At the end of the day, they got almost nothing that they wanted. They got pwned and pantsed!
After weeks of posturing, sound bites, and hashtags, Senate Democrats folded like a cheap lawn chair. The government will reopen after a handful of Democrats finally agreed to vote with Republicans to end the shutdown—without giving Chuck Schumer and his caucus anything close to a win.
So they get a vote on Obamacare subsidies within 40 days. And they shut down government and made people suffer for THAT? You’ve got to be kidding me!
I guess the other “win” for Democrats is that almost all the scurrying government DC vermin will now be re-hired. But those folks would not have been fired in the first place if Democrats had not insisted on a shutdown! So meh…
And it showed just how irrelevant most of those position actually are. That is a very heavy self-inflicted wound for Democrats!

Doing that would decrease voter fraud to minuscule levels. And it would change and temper the Democrat party. THAT is the reason Democrats fight it so. Because they would simply not exist in the same way if those changes were made. They would become dramatically less extreme–like they were in the 1980s.

So what did Democrats end up getting for this biblical walk in the idiotic budget wilderness? A promise for a vote on the ACA subsidies, with no guarantee of GOP support.
