LOVES them some moral equivalence! See, I think that many Leftist people are at heart uncomfortable with the rank immorality of much of Leftism. So they assuage themselves with what I call “The Bill Clinton excuse.” And THAT is to deflect approbrium by saying, “Well, don’t blame me–EVERYONE does it!”

You know, like a kid who says, “Yeah, but Johnny did it, too!’ You know, like “OK, I went 100 mph in a school zone, but YOU went 35 in a 20! So we’re both speeders, and you should get off your high horse, you hypocrite!“

Yes, and THAT truly

is the problem with not just this interview on this candidate, but with the Democrat party in general. They avoid any kind of opposition thoughts or beliefs, and so are utterly unprepared to face any kind of pushback.

Preaching to the choir maybe gratifying to many Democrats, but it has a very big downside. Their powers of reason and argument have atrophied and become basically a vestigial tail for them. It’s like a samurai sword that is made of pig-iron and covered in shiny chrome. It is only for decoration, not for actual use.

THAT has become an article of faith for Democrats; To never engage in logical argument with others. Because their heads are for more for decoration, not use.

Perino’s diagnosis went further than one bad night. She said El-Sayed has never faced real pushback, because he has spent his campaign talking only to people who already agree with him. “I don’t think he’s matured as a candidate,” she said. “I think that he skated through on the primary and got through partly because he doesn’t sound like a politician.”

YUP!

Good luck getting El-Sayed to answer any of that on the record. Based on how this interview went, he’ll find a way to ask Watters about his tonsils instead. But seriously, folks, Perino couldn’t be more spot on. And the funny thing is, it’s not something unique to El-Sayed either. Have you ever tried debating a liberal you know in real life? Haven’t you also found that they don’t know how to debate issues because they generally seek out people who agree with them and thus are never challenged?

Yes, and THAT is

the problem. Because if, with religious intensity, I think that I am right and know better than the critics, how can I ever actually change? If I’m already right, ANY actual change has to be in the wrong direction!

And I am so mired in the idea that I (ME!) am too smart and good to ever be wrong, so the very idea of change is anathema to me. No, I will ignore evidence and cut off any friend or relation who thinks differently. So actual change is impossible for me. Sound familiar? It should…

At most there is what old-time Psychologist George Kelly called “Slot Movement.” You “flip” positions, but your way of being in the world is exactly the same!

You know, one day I think you’re all good, but the next I think you are all bad. Sure, there is a patina of change, on the very surface, but no real change–I still think you are either all good or all bad. The paradigm has not changed one little bit…

And so the Democrat party simply cannot change. Any difference is both ephemeral and fleeting.

The Democrats can’t fix what we see as wrong with their party because they drift along on a fairytale sea of blamelessness. They’ve always been good at deflection, but it’s become a pathology that has them blaming President Trump for all that they do wrong. 

Change and painful growth require self-reflection, another thing that’s not a part of the aforementioned fairytale. The reflexive “But Trump!” blame assignment has them forever looking outward. Inward glances are anathema to them. 

… One thing is certain: there won’t be a course-correction because there isn’t anyone in the party who thinks one is necessary. Yes, some prominent Dems have been squawking about leaving the party or their votes being in play, but I’m not buying any of it. In the end, the Democratic Party is a Borg hive mind.

It’s absolutely true:

The Democrat party is being hollowed out and eaten from within. It’s already pretty much unrecognizable when compared to the “host” Democrat party of the mid-90s. It is mostly an outward shell, now. Like hermit crabs, they have backed into some other animal’s shell. They have killed the Democrat party, and now wear it as a skin suit.

There are warning signs that the Democratic Party establishment is drifting toward a similar surrender. It is already teetering on the edge of accommodation—or worse, capture—rather than opposition.

What happened to the DSA can and will happen to the Democratic Party if more moderate Democrats don’t organize against it. As Reuther, a man with experience fighting Leninists, wrote in 1948: “You have to show [Communism] up in the marketplace of ideas, expose it by honest dealing.”

And I think Democrats are at a crossroads, here. Will they go back to valuing “moderation,” or will they continue down the road of ever more extreme positions? Because to implement change will take some real courage on the part of regular Democrats!

And I’m just not sure they have it. The “Blue dogs” have already been kicked to the curb. Remember, Donald Trump spent the majority of his life as a Democrat, as did RFK, Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard!

But this is NOT the Democrat party of 25 years ago…

The Left is indeed having a meltdown. And the schadenfreude is more than delicious to those more on the Right side of things. But given what is happening, this is very dangerous to us, too!

Because it is not even hidden anymore: The socialists have nearly completely taken over the Democrat party. And they don’t even like Democrats–this is purely a strategic move for them.

We knew this was coming. Well, those of us with more than a fleeting grasp of history did. The Bolshevists always murder Trotsky in the end. Always.

And this should be a lesson to all you run-of-the-mill Lefties. YOU are not safe! Like many regular people who tend toward the Left, you may well be branded an enemy of the party and shunned and destroyed (see: John Fetterman). And then your life is not worth a tinker’s dam on a summer night in Portland…

The Democrat Party has a problem that the establishment doesn’t have a clue how to deal with. Its most radical members of Congress aren’t radical enough for the activist base anymore, and one by one, they’re getting picked off by candidates aligned with the Democratic Socialists of America.

… It gets worse. In New York’s 10th District, Brad Lander demolished Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.), who was no moderate. He was one of the loudest anti-Trump voices in the Democrat caucus and the lead counsel in the party’s first impeachment attempt against President Donald Trump. Didn’t matter. The base wanted more.

Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries are, neither one, even slightly adjacent to conservative. Yet neither one is hard Left enough for the new Democrat base in their area, and it is almost guaranteed that neither will win re-election.

The Democrat Party is being cannibalized from the inside, and its leadership has no idea what to do about it. Now you’ve got a sitting senator publicly suggesting her own party’s top two leaders need to go. We’re four months away from the midterm elections, and the Democrat Party is on the verge of a civil war, and it’s about to get nasty.

Call it what it is: Epistemic closure. They have their beliefs and there cannot be any more or new beliefs! New or different information is never accommodated, only thrust into the Procrustean bed of their pre-existing framework.
