Actually, I think it’s this: Having wide open eyes is associated with telling the truth. Each of these people are known to be HUGE liars–and they chronically open their eyes wide in a rather unconscious effort to appear trustworthy.
And yes, there are genetic factors in play, here. But as with most physical characteristics, both nature and nurture are involved.
