See, free speech means that they hear non-Lefty-orthodox arguments. And THAT is a huge threat to Leftism itself. It simply can’t bear the weight of reasoned scrutiny. Most Lefties are major intellectual lightweights, so the sharp elbows of the marketplace of ideas leaves them bruised, battered, and identity-challenged.
And it is a significant threat to their puffed-up ego. No, they don’t want to risk stepping outside of their idealogical “circle of safety.” So they simply hurl insults from the safety of the bleacher seats.
