So the question I

have about Affirmative Action is this: How long?

In 2003, Justice Sandra Day O’Connor wrote in a court opinion:

We expect that 25 years from now, the use of racial preferences will no longer be necessary to further the interest approved today.

So she was saying that yes, Affirmative Action is unconstitutional, but that it would stop in 25 years.

Huh?

OK, she just pulled that number out of her butt, Fine, But with what Constitutional right is it logically acceptable to say, “OK, we can violate it, but only for the next 25 years?”

And what cultural effect would it have on the Black community if it went away? Would there be more emphasis on academic achievement?
