The idea of a

“government shutdown” is WAAAAYYY overblown. It is, for most people, a mild inconvenience at most. Really, the main people who are hurt are “non-essential” government workers. And yes, that is indeed sad on an individual basis. But it’s hardly a national crisis…

In fact, even a federal government “shutdown” doesn’t mean no federal government at all (kind of like Prohibition that way); Social Security checks still get sent out, and other “essential” services, like our military in the field, continue.

If they shut it down, would most people even notice? It’s not a crisis.
