Well,

Leftism.

PLEASE understand, violence is the very intellectual foundation of Leftism. Sure, it’s wrapped in a patina of happy talk so as to fool the rubes, but at heart, Leftism IS force, violence, and an attempt to destroy moral agency.

But here we see the happy mask slip, revealing the gaping maw of Hell that is usually well hidden.

Pro-abortion extremists are reportedly threatening to burn down the Supreme Court building and murder justices and the clerks, prompting law enforcement to ready itself for political violence should Roe v. Wade be overturned.

Federalism:

It’s a thing.

To make a diverse country work, you stay as far away as you can from national mandates and have policy made as locally as possible. The individual states make the VAST majority of policy.

So the Federal does a few things: Provides for the common defense (foreign policy). Promotes justice though the federal courts. Allows for general liberty. Regulates inter-state commerce.

Aaaand, that’s about it!

Why am I a

Conservative?

It’s a great question. But a complicated one.

See, ALL theories of human nature are an amalgam of both good and evil. The issue is the ratio of good to evil.

And virtually ALL of what is good in Leftism is also found in Conservatism. I don’t have to go Leftist to care about the poor or the environment.

The Left promotes gun-barrel generosity. And I think that is immoral. And it’s really not something I can philosophically tolerate. It’s a deal-breaker for me. I think coercion should NOT be the first choice.

Now I understand that in this fallen world there are times when force is necessary–confining people in jail, for example. But it should only be done reluctantly, as the last and best possible option. Better to use persuasion and true concern.

One more word

on Roe possibly being returned to the states to decide.

Abortion loses pretty much every time it is put up for a vote. Unlimited abortion up until the day of birth is a very extreme position, one held by only about 6% of voters.

So what the Left is saying is this: Those pesky voters! They cling blindly to their morals and to Democracy instead of just being ruled by nine robed masters!

Yes, that is correct.
